The Dragon Trip launch Japan adventure tour

THE POPULARITY of Japan as a tourist destination is on the rise, with a district in Osaka topping a list of the sixteen top trending Airbnb destinations to visit this year. With this in mind, tour operator The Dragon Trip has launched its new adventure tours to Japan, to meet the increasing demand for affordable travel options to the country.

Kandersteg-2Founded six years ago by backpacker Ramsay Kerr, a Brit who grew up in Hong Kong, the company currently provides affordable backpacking adventure tours of China to people who cannot speak Mandarin and to show guests a different side of the country.

Kandersteg-4Its new 13-day Japan adventure tour, departing 12 September and 10 October 2016, will show off the many sides of the country in an action-packed itinerary, providing travellers with a truly immersive itinerary. Not only will they be shown the main sights in Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka and elsewhere, but also the tour will allow full immersion into Japanese culture.

Kandersteg-3“There is an increasing trend in adventure travel as people look for opportunities to get under the skin of a country and really discover it. Japan is the perfect place for adventure travel with a myriad of options for cultural discovery,” Alex Seigel, director, The Dragon Trip, told Essential Journeys. “Having taken over a thousand people around China, we were constantly being asked if it was possible to do a similar trip in Japan. There is a great deal of interest in the nation, but not a lot of affordable adventure travel options.”

KanderstegOn the trips, travellers will be accompanied by knowledgeable, local guides, who will help them overcome the often tricky language barrier. Travellers can take part in a karate lesson, a calligraphy class, a visit to the sumo district, an anime masterclass, trips to local bath houses and – of course – karaoke. The 13-day trip also includes plenty of opportunities to explore Japan’s beautiful countryside, with its shrines, temples and endless hiking trails.

Kandersteg-1Having built up a reputation for excellent itineraries and safe, low-cost travel in China, The Dragon Trip will now use its local knowledge and expertise to provide an insight into Japan and its fascinating culture.

Kandersteg-1-2Package details: Tokyo to Tokyo – 13 days from £1,499pp. Includes visits to Kyoto, Hiroshima, Osaka, Hakone and the Takaosan Mountain. Price includes all transport, accommodation, an adventure guide plus a majority of the activities on offer. Excludes food and drink, international flights.
